This week has been a well needed half term. As soon as work finished on Friday I legged it out of there as quick as the pupils and headed up to Winchester for a few days before then going to stay with my friend Alice and watch her clear out her loft. As it was Shrove Tuesday was this week I made pancakes at both places.
I love pancakes but I usually only eat them once a year for pancake day. They just seem a bit of an effort at any other time of the year. I ended up having three lots of pancakes, one at Orla's and then lunch and dinner at Alice's. Here's me making the pancakes for lunch at Alice's.
Did you have pancakes? What did you have on them? We had savoury ones for lunch and sweet ones for dinner.

This month's glossy box arrived today and it was packed with goodies. Unsurprisingly with valentine's day a few days away, the theme for this February was love.
So what's in the box?
Schwartzkoft got2be All Star 10-in-1 Styling Treatment - £4.07
Royal Apothic Tinties Lip Butter in 'Coral' - $14 (£9.18)
So Susan Rose Quartet Lip and Cheek Cream - £8
The box has a long list of great claims such as cruelty free, sulphate free and fragrance free to name a few. Inside is a lovely little quad suitable for the lips and cheeks.
Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor - £9.99
I was quite excited when I saw this in the box because I always like a good razor. The blade has a "water activated" bar of Moisturising Serum that contains marine extracts and shea butter to hydrate the skin for up to two hours after shaving.
Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow in 'Fifty Shades' - £14.49
Inspired by the upcoming film, this mineral eyeshadow is a lovely soft grey with silvery sparkles. Glossybox suggest applying with a wet brush for and deeper, intense shade.
All in all, four of the five products were full size which is really good. The box has a total worth of £45.73 and I'm really happy with every single item. Usually with glossy box there's at least one item I won't really use but I can definitely see myself using absolutely everything in this month's box. Next month is the last of my birthday boxes, let's hope we end on a bang but I know this month will be a tough act to follow.
Glossybox is a monthly subscription service. Each box costs £10 a month + p&p (cheaper if you buy more months at once) and comes with 5 product of which at least one is full size. www.glossybox.com
I feel like I didn’t do this book justice in my video review. I forgot things I meant to mention and didn’t notice until later when I was editing. Mostly I forgot to mention the pranks. The pranks were one of my favourite parts of this book along with the feminism.

Book Challenge 2015: Book 1 ✓ A book by a female author
When I was 11 I had an unhealthy obsession with Lush; they knew my name in the shop. Then I fell out of love with them and baths in general save for the occasional bath bomb I’d get for Christmas. It wasn’t until I laid my eyes on a extremely glittery bath melt called Star Light Star Bright this Christmas that my love affair was reignited. I’d bought it as a present for a friend who loves baths but as it sat in my room waiting to be wrapped the smell was so lovely and citrusy I knew I’d have to go back and get myself one. Since then, along side a guilt gift bath bomb from my sister and a gift set from an auntie for my birthday, I’ve found myself going on a few trips to lush to aid the hours I now seem to be spending reading in the tub.
Bubblegrub – Bubbleroon – £2.95
One from the Mother’s Day line that came out today, these cute little guy reminds me of the very hungry caterpillar. A orange bubble bar with white chocolate eyes and vanilla pod antennas stuck to a glittery green one. I’m going to feel rather cruel crumbling this one up.
Yuzu and Cocoa – Bubbleroon – £3.65
Of all the bath products I’ve bought recently this one smells the best, coconuty and slightly chocolatey. It’s made of two little bubble bars sandwiched together with shea butter so it’s going to be really moisturising.
Floating Island – Bath Melt – £4.35
As an 11-year-old flicking through the Lush Times I often looked at Floating Island but then usually opted for the cheaper and sweeter Creamy Candy bubble bar. It packed with almond oil and cocoa butter which leaves your skin feeling super silky and soft.
Mint Julips – Lip Scrub – £5.50
Had I not seen Marion include this on her blog the other day I probably wouldn’t have even looked at this lip sugar scrub but it has immediately become a favourite. After use my lips feel so soft and taste amazing. It tastes like after eights and leaves you with a perfect base for lipstick.
Mother Superior – Bubble Bar – £3.75
Another one from the Mother’s Day line, this little nun may look like she’s coming down with a strange smurf disease but she smells lovely.
Rose – Bubble Bar – £2.95
I’m not entirely sure why I bought this as I’m really not keen on rose things but the sparkles got me.
Unicorn Horn – Bubble Bar – £3.25
This one seems to have hit it the big time on YouTube and according to the woman I spoke to in the shop stores around the UK have been selling out fast. This bar just reminds me of Miley Cyrus’ instagram (it’s a joy if you’re into spams of terrible photoshops). The website says it scented with neroli and lavender essential oils but just sniffing the bar it doesn’t really smell of much. Hopefully once crumbled into a hot bath it will smell better.
The question now is which one do I use while I finish off reading The Shadow Cabinet?

It’s still January (barely) so I’m still allowed to do a 2015 resolutions post. Each year instead of resolutions I like to give myself a theme for the year. There was the year of trying which involved trying things even if I didn’t think I’d like them. As a result I now like seafood, salmon and olives and most definitely know that I still hate bananas.
This year is the year of saving. So far that seems to have meant setting aside money for my monthly bills as soon as my pay check came in and then still managing to blow the rest of my money in the first week and not going to the theatre quite so much. It’s not that theatre tickets were costing me to much (generally I only ever spend £5-15 on a ticket. I’ll make a video about it soon) but since the new year TFL has hiked the price up on travel and I’ve really noticed the difference. Add to that any food I’d buy while I was out and the trips were costing too much. That said I’ve still got 5 trips booked for February. Oops. But hopefully my increased time at home will be spent reading and writing more.
I’ve done the Goodreads Reading Challenge for the last three years now. Last year I only read 18 after setting myself a low target of 15. This year I’ve set myself the task of 25 books. As a serial starter of books who never actually finishes them this is tough challenge so my plan of action was to finish off all the books I’ve already started. But then a few nights ago, in a group text, my friend Georgie sent us the PopSugar 2015 Reading Challenge and as she predicted we were all over it. So the challenge now between Alice, Jenkins and myself is to tick off as many books as we can on that list. It’s sort of become a competition so my suggestion that if I ever finished Anna Karenina I could tick off 10 books in one go didn’t go down too well. But considering it how many years I’ve been “reading” it for I think I need all the encouragement I can get.
So that’s the plan for 2015 save money and tick off as many books as I can and hopefully in the process vlog and blog more.
What were your resolutions or challenges for this year?
