Last week was Independent Booksellers Week and after the success of last year the bookshop crawl was back. Unfortunately it happened to be the same day as everything else in the world. That might be a slight exaggeration but that's certainly what it felt like in the few weeks running up to it. The day of the official crawl I was seeing Taylor Swift and already had plans to spend the day having brunch then going to the gig. After a glass of Prosecco or 5 however I decided I couldn't bare to miss out on all the bookish fun and hatched a genius plan to visit as many bookshops as possible without my friends realising. As you can see I failed miserably but I did try!
I have a habit of finding myself in YouTube holes in the middle of the night unsure about how I got there. Quite often or not they revolve about food or Japan or both. It was during one of these nights a few month ago that I stumbled across Grace Buchele Mineta's YouTube channel, Texan in Tokyo. Grace, originally from Texas, lives with her husband Ryosuke and records her life in Japan in blogs, vlogs and comics. She's written two books, My Japanese Husband Thinks I'm Crazy and My Japanese Husband (Still) Thinks I'm Crazy and her third book Confessions of a Texan in Toyko came out today.
