New Year Challenges
00:20
It’s still January (barely) so I’m still allowed to do a 2015 resolutions post. Each year instead of resolutions I like to give myself a theme for the year. There was the year of trying which involved trying things even if I didn’t think I’d like them. As a result I now like seafood, salmon and olives and most definitely know that I still hate bananas.
This year is the year of saving. So far that seems to have meant setting aside money for my monthly bills as soon as my pay check came in and then still managing to blow the rest of my money in the first week and not going to the theatre quite so much. It’s not that theatre tickets were costing me to much (generally I only ever spend £5-15 on a ticket. I’ll make a video about it soon) but since the new year TFL has hiked the price up on travel and I’ve really noticed the difference. Add to that any food I’d buy while I was out and the trips were costing too much. That said I’ve still got 5 trips booked for February. Oops. But hopefully my increased time at home will be spent reading and writing more.
I’ve done the Goodreads Reading Challenge for the last three years now. Last year I only read 18 after setting myself a low target of 15. This year I’ve set myself the task of 25 books. As a serial starter of books who never actually finishes them this is tough challenge so my plan of action was to finish off all the books I’ve already started. But then a few nights ago, in a group text, my friend Georgie sent us the PopSugar 2015 Reading Challenge and as she predicted we were all over it. So the challenge now between Alice, Jenkins and myself is to tick off as many books as we can on that list. It’s sort of become a competition so my suggestion that if I ever finished Anna Karenina I could tick off 10 books in one go didn’t go down too well. But considering it how many years I’ve been “reading” it for I think I need all the encouragement I can get.
So that’s the plan for 2015 save money and tick off as many books as I can and hopefully in the process vlog and blog more.
What were your resolutions or challenges for this year?
